Preparations for the Torah at Sinai Began with the Women

It’s not surprising that the preparation for receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai started with the women and girls. (See Rashi on Exodus 19:3.) As a fact of human nature, the tone of the household is set mainly by the woman of the house. This is why she is deemed by the Torah to be “The Foundation of the Home” – the mainstay of the home.
