The Power of Thought – Use it Well!
Adapted from the description of this video on YouTube:
The Ba’al Shem Tov taught that “a person is where his thoughts are”. Although Torah teaches the great important of a person’s actions and speech, these two faculties can hide one’s true intentions. Therefore, by understanding the thoughts behind the deeds, we can appreciate their value and sincerity. When you don’t know another person’s thoughts, there is a disconnect between the speaker and you, the listener, and between the doer and you, the observer.
It’s the thoughts behind the words said, and the motives hidden in the things done, that actually create a true connection. This is why Torah teaches the importance of our thoughts upon rising each morning. Those thoughts carry us through the day, by influencing our subsequent speech and actions, and influencing our connections with others.
Even more so, they impact one’s connection with G-d, for both Jews and Gentiles/Noahides.
