The Deeper Meaning of Tears (English & French)

The verse Isaiah 25:8 includes the prophecy, “…the L-rd G-d shall wipe the tears off every face…”

The gematria (numerical value) of the Hebrew word “dimah” (tears) is 119. Add 1 for the word itself, and the total is 120. In the Torah tradition, this corresponds to the age of a person who has lived a full life (as Moses, who lived to the age of 120). This teaches that tears have a greater positive purpose, which is repentance from sin. Repentance will restore the world to its original condition of eternal life, which was temporarily removed due to sin.
