How the High Priest was honored before and after Yom Kippur

Great honor was bestowed to the High Priest before and after Yom Kippur. On that one day each year, during the Yom Kippur service, the High Priest entered the “Holy of Holies”. It was the Holy Temple’s innermost room, which was designated for the Ark of Covenant (before it was hidden away).
