The Historical Purim: the story behind the Book of Esther

In this audio lesson (3:06), Rabbi Yosef Eisen explains the historical events leading up to the Purim miracle. The Book of Esther spans many years, until the climax when Haman was executed on Passover. The Jews were victorious against their enemies 11 months later, in the month of Adar.

On Purim, Jews read the Book of Esther and give charity for the poor.
