The Festival of Shavuot and the Oral Torah from Mount Sinai

The Jewish Festival of Shavuot (Festival of Weeks) celebrates the day of G-d’s speaking the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. While Moses stayed on Mount Sinai, G-d taught him the Oral Torah. Shavuot begins on 6th of Sivan, which falls in late May or early June. In 20’24, this date fell on Wednesday, June 12.

Before G-d made His covenant with the Jews through speaking the Ten Commandments, they accepted the Noahide Commandments. He commanded them through Moses as part of the Torah, two days before He spoke the Ten Commandments. For the timeline of these events, click here.
