How the High Priest was honored before and after Yom Kippur

The High Priest received great honor before and after Yom Kippur. On that one day each year, during the Yom Kippur service, the High Priest entered the “Holy of Holies”. It was the innermost and most sacred room of the Holy Temple.
In the Tabernacle and the First Holy Temple, the Holy of Holies room housed the Ark of Covenant. It contained the two Tablets of the Ten Commandments. In addition, the first Torah scroll that Moses wrote was stored either in the Ark of the Covenant, or on a ledge at its side.
This audio gives an historical account of Yom Kippur in the time of the Second Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
