7 Hebrew-Bible Verses for Gentile Children to Learn

Rabbi J. Immanuel Schochet o.b.m. recommended these 7 verses from the Hebrew Bible for Gentile children to learn and recite. We urge all Gentile children to memorize them, and say them every night before bedtime. Note: they are easier to learn when sung with tunes.

Jacob's ladder

1. Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth.

2. Genesis 5:1 – On the day that G-d created Adam, He made him in the image of G-d.

3. Psalms 34:15 – Turn away from bad and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

4. Psalms 145:9 – The L-rd is good to all, and His mercies extend over all His works.

5. Proverbs 15:3 – The eyes of the L-rd are everywhere, seeing the bad and the good.

6. Job 28:28 – Behold, the fear of the L-rd is wisdom, and turning away from bad is understanding.

7. Isaiah 48:17 – Thus said the L-rd, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the L-rd, your G-d, Who teaches you for your benefit, Who guides you in the way you should go.
