Guard Your Tongue: A Guide to the Laws of Gossip and Slander
Now back in print!
Guard Your Tongue is an English adaptation of Rabbi Yisroel Meir Kagan’s classic work, Chofetz Chayim (One Who Desires Life). It’s a compilation of the Torah laws pertaining to speech and the prohibitions of gossip and slander. Because it is written in clear, straightforward language, this makes it is eminently readable. The author Rabbi Zelig Pliskin has added many real life situational examples to illustrate the practical applications of these laws. They are all included in the prohibition of evil speech (lashon harah in Hebrew). This guide is a must for every pious and G-d fearing person and should be reread frequently.
The prohibition of lashon harah is also one of the offshoots of the Noahide Commandment that prohibits murder and injury.
