The following is adapted from the book’s description on Amazon.com:

Toward a Meaningful Life is a spiritual road map for living, for all people. It is based on the teachings of one of the foremost religious leaders of our time: Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement for over forty-four years. He is referred to throughout the world simply as “the Rebbe”. He was a sage and a visionary of the highest order. The Rebbe’s teachings are firmly anchored in over two thousand years of Torah scholarship. At the same time, he applies age-old truths to contemporary life. The Rebbe teaches a distinctly universal message, calling for unity and for all humankind to lead productive and virtuous lives.

Toward a Meaningful Life gives the modern reader – even the most secular – a fresh perspective on every aspect of life. This is found throughout, whether it is a trivial concern or the most profound matter of the soul. The book gives the Rebbe’s perspective on the range of life’s cycles, from birth to youth, to aging to death. The subjects include marriage, love and intimacy, work and fitness, pain and suffering, education, miracles, science, and state and religion. One learns how to bridge the dichotomy between accelerated technology and decelerated morality. The contrast between unprecedented world-wide unity and unparalleled personal disunity is uncovered.

The Rebbe teaches that we stand at the threshold of a new era of knowledge and information. He uses ideas that unite people, rather than materialism that divides them. The reader will discover how each of us is indispensable. Paramount is how we all can and must make our unique indelible mark on our common future.

Compiler/editor: Rabbi Simon Jacobson. He presents the Rebbe’s teachings clearly, guiding the reader toward a meaningful life.

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson

Book review by our Noahide friend Rhonda:

I’m grateful to Rabbi Shimon Jacobson for compiling a wonderful book, Toward a Meaningful Life, and for the Rebbe’s precious teachings it contains. The Rebbe touched the world and still does, with teachings that are tools for making the world a better place. Indeed, the world lost a treasure of a man, but the wisdom he conveyed empowers us to live the kind of life we are meant to.

His teachings have can enlighten and lift up your soul, no matter where you are in life. Life is too short to allow the negativities to run us through. This book shows you how to be inspired, be uplifted, and stop listening to the dark voices that preach things contrary to Torah. Now, I’m more curious to know what else the Rebbe taught that I would benefit from as a Noahide!

I wish that I had this book when I was in high school — maybe even in junior high school or grade school. There are many kids who would benefit from reading such a positive resource. If all schools had this book on every desk in their classrooms, our society would gain a better attitude toward life altogether. In the Rebbe’s spectrum of insights, both young and older readers will find what they individually need, lifting them higher into a brighter future.

Throughout the book, it is also reminding us how important G-d is in every aspect of our lives. In my perspective, if people and nations would apply the wisdom it contains, that would be the prescription for healing the world. It is a wellspring of refreshing truths, and there is no boundary of any kind as to who should read it; it’s for you. Toward a Meaningful Life is a must-read for everyone.
