A Living Contradiction

I am leaving behind who I am
To become who I have always been.

I am leaving behind what I am
To become what I always will be.

I am leaving behind what I know
To learn things I have always known.

I am leaving behind those I know
Because they have never known me.

I am leaving behind what I have heard
So I can listen more intently.

I am leaving behind comfort
So that I may be comforted.

I am leaving behind fear of people
and exchanging it for fear of G-d.

I am leaving behind my ways
And trading them for His will.

I am leaving behind the darkness
Because through it shines the light.

I am leaving behind nothing
Because everything brought me here.

This is so very easy
I didn’t know it would be so hard.
Most turn away from me
But I still feel so loved!

The L-ord drew this poem from within me
So that I may be blessed to see
All the ways His will has bent me
All the ways He has set me free.

Heartache feels like yesterday.
Joy feels like today.
Hope and Peace – tomorrow
For He is on His way!

-And so am I!
